IDE Group’s Discover-Develop-Deliver Process.

This method uses the lenses of Desirability, Feasibility and Viability to identify and assess commercial, technical and project risks both at the outset of a Project, and then at regular intervals throughout the product development journey. This allows for the development of a Project Strategy that guides us in the right direction, implemented with the flexibility to pivot as needed, maximising our potential for a commercially successful outcome.

Our Process

IDE Group’s Discover-Develop-Deliver method is organised into three distinct phases. Customised milestone designated by the Project Strategy regular checkpoints for review and re-assessment of risk, resource constraints and progress towards value creation.

The Discover Phase

This phase focuses on defining the problem worth solving (or opportunity worth exploiting), whilst exploring and examining potential solutions for valuable products and/or services. It typically involves activities that might include:

  • Customer discovery and market research

  • Proof of concept prototype development to both demonstrate feasibility and validate desirability (bench and field testing)
  • Regulatory strategy development
  • Risk management planning
  • Clinical requirements development and assessment
  • Manufacturing planning and Cost of Goods Estimates

  • Business model development and viability assessment

Discover is completed when we have defined the most valuable solution for stakeholders that can be successfully delivered. Discover reduces key risks and defines the key criteria and requirements for Project and Venture success.

The Develop Phase

This phase is focused on developing all elements of the solution and its requirements, then converging on the final product embodiment to release to market. Develop activities might include:

  • Detailed design and engineering
  • Engineering modelling and analysis
  • Supply chain, manufacturing process development and other new product implementation activities
  • Tooling and manufacturing of production equivalent units
  • Formative verification & validation testing
  • Risk analysis (utilising methods including DFMEA, PFMEA & Hazards Analysis)

Develop is completed when we are confident a Product or Service that meets requirements.
