Terms & Conditions

  1. Information on how to enter the Building Better Futures for Health Competition (Competition) and the Competition prizes, as set out on this website www.ide.group/bbfh-challenge/ form part of these terms and conditions. By applying, entrants agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. Entries must comply with these terms and conditions to be valid.
  2. The Promoter is I D & E Pty Ltd (ACN 106 382 236), having its principal place of business at 701-703 Parramatta Road, Leichhardt NSW 2040, Australia. To contact the Promoter, please email bbfhchallenge@ide.group or telephone our customer service line on +61 (0)2 9647 2660.

Competition period

  1. The competition commences on Monday the 1st of July 2026 and ends on Wednesday 3rd of March 2027 at 23.59 pm Sydney (AEST) time (Competition Period).

Eligibility to enter

  1. Entry is open to residents of Australia who are aged 18 years or over. Entry is also open locally and internationally to corporations, research institutes, and universities specialising in medical technology (Eligible Entrants) with an intent to conduct some or part of the research, development, manufacture or commercialisaton of the product or service in Australia.
  2. Directors, management, employees and their immediate families, and related entities of the Promoter, and retailers, suppliers, associated entities and agencies associated with this Competition are ineligible to enter.

How to enter

  1. To enter, Eligible Entrants must, during the Competition Period, visit www.ide.group/bbfh-challenge/ and fully complete the online entry form, including full name, email address, and telephone number and fully answer all questions on the application form.
  2. All applications for entry must be received by the Promoter by Monday 31st August at 16.59 pm Sydney (AEST) time.
  3. A limit of one entry applies per Eligible Entrant.

Prizes

  1. The prize for the winning entry (Winning Entry Prize) will comprise of the Promoter’s services to the value of AUD$30,000. The value of the services will be based on the Promoter’s standard charges and calculated by the Promoter in its absolute discretion.
  2. The "People’s Choice Award” prize will comprise of the Promoter’s services to the value of AUD$10,000. The value of the services will be based on the Promoter’s standard charges and calculated by the Promoter in its absolute discretion.
  3. Two Australian finalists will also win a one (1) year membership to the MTAA Medtech Compass initiative to help them on their commercialisation journey.
  4. By entering this Competition, Eligible Entrants agree and acknowledge that the provision by the Promoter of the Prize services will be subject to the Prize winners first entering into a product development agreement in accordance with the Promoter’s standard form.
  5. For the avoidance of any doubt, the Prizes do not include any other benefit, such as insurance, taxes, disbursements, and travel costs that may be incurred by the winners, which are the responsibility of the winners. Neither are the Prizes redeemable for cash or in any other form.
  6. Prize winners should seek tax advice on any potential tax implications that may arise from the acceptance and receipt of the Prizes.
  7. All taxes (excluding goods and services tax) which may be payable as a consequence of receiving the Prize are the sole responsibility of the winner.
  8. The Promoter is not liable for any loss, damage or injury suffered (even if caused by negligence) as a result of any winner accepting and/or using the Prize, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law.
  9. The Promoter does not guarantee the services provided to a Prize winner will result in any consequential gain or any particular result for the Prize winner.

Judging date and time

  1. Of the Eligible Entrants, up to 10 semi-finalists (Semi-Finalists) will be selected and contacted in the period Monday 14th September 2026 to Friday 25th September 2025.
  2. Judging of the Semi-Finalists will take place in a closed pitch session between 28th September and 9th October 2026, at the IDE Group offices, 701-703 Parramatta Road, Leichhardt, NSW 2040 Australia. A panel of qualified judges (Judges)will select up to five finalists (Finalists) judged individually on their merits, based on skill, ingenuity and creativity.
  3. Judging of the Finalists will take place in a public forum by way of an event (Final Award Event) on Wednesday, 3rd of March 2027 from 3.00pm (AEST) to be held at the International Convention Centre (ICC), 14 Darling Drive, Sydney NSW 2000, Australia (Judging Date and Time). All entries will be judged individually on their merits, based on skill, ingenuity and creativity, by a panel of qualified judges.
  4. The best entry as determined by the Judges in their absolute discretion will win the Winning Entry Prize.
  5. A vote for the People’s Choice Award Prize at the Final Award Event will also be taken. Only the Finalists participating in the Final Award Event will be eligible for this prize. Members of the invited audience to the Final Award Event will each be eligible to vote following the Finalists’ presentations.
  6. All Eligible Entrants agree and acknowledge that participation in all aspects of this Competition (including the Semi-Final Pitch Event and Final Award Event) is at their own expense.
  7. This is a competition of skill, creativity and ingenuity and chance plays no part in determining the winner.

Intellectual Property and Patent Applications

  1. Prior to participating in this Competition, Applicants are strongly recommended to seek prior legal advice on the possible consequences of the disclosure of their ideas and/or inventions to the Promoter and the public in the course of this Competition, and the effect such disclosures may have on their confidentiality and intellectual property rights, including the possible effect on any patent application the Applicant has lodged, or may wish to lodge, in the future. By applying to enter this Competition, Applicants (whether Eligible Entrants or otherwise) acknowledge and agree that it is their responsibility to ensure they seek such legal advice, and will not hold the Promoter liable for any loss or damage they might suffer in connection with their intellectual property rights by participating in this Competition.

Prize delivery

  1. Notification of prizes will be delivered to the address nominated by the Eligible Entrant in the entry form. The prizes comprising Promotor’s services will be delivered in accordance with the Promoter’s standard form of product development agreement.

Prize substitution

  1. In the event that the Prize (or any part of the Prize) becomes unavailable for reasons beyond the Promoter’s control, the Promoter may substitute a prize (or the relevant part of a prize) with a prize of equal or greater value.

Winner notification

  1. Winners will be announced at the Final Award Event.

 Unclaimed Prizes

  1. Subject to the execution of a product development agreement as referred to in clause 11, all Prizes will be fulfilled by the Promoter as soon as practicable following the announcement of the Winners.
  2. If the services (or any part of those services) offered by the Promoter as a result of the Prizes are not accepted, or taken up, by a Prize winner within 12 months of the announcement of the Winners, to the extent of any portion of the Prize that has not been utilised by that time it will be forfeited by the winner.

Use of Eligible Entrant’s personal information

  1. Personal information including the Eligible Entrant’s name, address, telephone number, and email will be collected and used for the purpose of conducting this Competition. This may require disclosure to third parties, including local regulatory authorities and the Promoter’s agents or third- party service providers, for the purpose of conducting the Competition, or for promotional and marketing purposes (including for direct marketing) (Purpose).
  2. Entrants who fail to provide all personal information requested by the Promoter may be determined by the Promoter at its sole discretion to be an ineligible Entrants and therefore ineligible to win a Prize.
  3. By entering this Competition, Eligible Entrants consent to the use of their personal information for the Purpose, and that the Promoter may contact them for future marketing and material purposes without payment. Eligible Entrants agree that the Promoter may use this information for that purpose.
  4. Eligible Entrants may access, change or update their personal information by emailing the Promoter on bbfhchallenge@ide.group. A copy of the Promoter’s privacy policy is available on the Promoter’s website The privacy policy contains information about how individuals may access or correct personal information or make a privacy-related complaint.

Entry content

  1. Entries must be the Eligible Entrant’s original work. The Promoter reserves the right to require the Eligible Entrant to verify that the entry is the Eligible Entrant’s original work. If the Promoter is unable to verify that the entry is original work to its satisfaction, the entry will be deemed invalid.
  2. Eligible Entrants warrant that their entry is not in breach of any third-party intellectual property rights. Eligible Entrants agree to indemnify the Promoter and its associated agencies against all losses, damages, claims and costs by third parties arising out of, connected to, or resulting from, a breach of the warranty set out in this clause 35.
  3. An Eligible Entrant’s entry must not include:
    • a. any image, video or voice of any other person without that person’s express consent;
    • b. any content that contravenes any law; and
    • c. any content that is obscene, offensive, potentially defamatory, discriminatory, indecent, prejudicial or inconsistent with prevailing community standards.
  4. By entering this Competition, Eligible Entrants grant the Promoter a non-exclusive licence to use the content of their entry, or any part of the content of the entry, in any way the Promoter wishes (including modifying, adapting, copying, cropping, retouching, editing, publishing, broadcasting or communicating the entry whether in original or modified form in whole or in part) in all media for the purposes of the Promoter’s business on its website, social media or in any marketing campaign, without payment to the Eligible Entrant of royalties or compensation. If requested by the Promoter, Eligible Entrants agree to sign any further documentation required by the Promoter to give effect to this clause 37.
  5. By entering this Competition, Eligible Entrants consent to the Promoter dealing with their entry content in any way that may otherwise infringe the Eligible Entrant’s moral rights and agree not to assert their moral rights (wherever such rights are recognised) in respect of their entry against the Promoter or its assigns, licensees or successors.
  6. Eligible Entrants consent to the Promoter using their name, suburb, likeness, image and/or voice in the event that they are a winner in any media for an unlimited period of time without remuneration or compensation for the purpose of promoting this Competition (including any outcome) and/ or promoting any products manufactured, distributed and/or supplied by the Promoter.

Social media platforms

  1. By using and entering this Competition on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or LinkedIn (Social Media Platforms), Eligible Entrants:
    • a. agree to comply with the Social Media Platforms’ terms of use;
    • b. release the Promoter and the Social Media Platforms from all claims based on, related to or arising from the Competition; and
    • c. acknowledge and agree that this Competition is in no way sponsored or endorsed by, or affiliated with any of the Social Media Platforms.
  2. The Promoter is not responsible for any loss, damage or injury to Eligible Entrants resulting from entering or participating in this Competition, including arising from any comments made or material published by third parties about the Eligible Entrants on any social media platform in connection with this Competition.

General conditions

  1. The Promoter’s and the Judges’ decisions (as the case may be) will be final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for late, lost or misdirected entries or other communications and notifications. Entries will be deemed void if illegitimate, forged, manipulated or tampered with in any way.
  2. Should an Eligible Entrant’s contact details change during the Competition Period, it is the Eligible Entrant’s responsibility to notify the Promoter. A request to access or modify any information provided as part of the redemption of a Prize should be directed to the Promoter.
  3. The Promoter reserves the right to request verification of the social media profile of Eligible Entrants and of the age, identity and residential address of winners and any other information relevant to entry into or participation in this Competition. Verification is at the discretion of the Promoter, whose decision is final. Failure by the Promoter to enforce any of its rights does not constitute a waiver of those rights.
  4. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any individual who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these terms and conditions, or who is involved in any way in interfering or tampering with the conduct of this Competition, has breached any of these terms and conditions, or engaged in any unlawful or other improper misconduct calculated to jeopardise the fair and proper conduct of the Competition.
  5. Winners may have rights under the Australian Consumer Law and other legislation which cannot be excluded, restricted or modified by the Promoter. These terms and conditions do not exclude, restrict or limit those statutory rights in any way. However, to the extent that it is permitted to do so by law, the Promoter (including its officers, employees and agents) excludes all liability, whether arising under statute, in tort (including without limitation negligence), contract or otherwise, for any personal injury or any other loss or damage (including without limitation loss of opportunity or loss of profits) whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of the Competition, including, without limitation:
    • a. any technical difficulties or equipment malfunction (whether or not under the Promoter’s control);
    • b. any theft, unauthorised access or third-party interference;
    • c. any entry that is late, lost, altered, damaged or misdirected (whether or not after their receipt by the Promoter) due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter;
    • d. any variation in market value to that stated in these terms and conditions;
    • e. any tax implications;
    • f. any loss or breach of intellectual property rights; or
    • g. the Prizes or use of the Prizes.
  6. If for any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter, this Competition is not capable of running as planned, the Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to take any action that may be available to it, including to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Competition, or amend these terms and conditions, unless to do so would be prohibited by law.
