IDE Group, leader in medical technology innovation with more than two decades of experience developing and commercialising groundbreaking medical devices, announces the opening of its new MedTech Simulation Usability Lab, strategically integrated within its existing Design & Development Studio in Minneapolis. This initiative was highlighted during the recent LSI ’25 USA conference by Kent DiasAbeygunawardena, US Director at IDE Group.

Designed as a practical resource for both early-stage startups and established MedTech companies in the US and globally, the new Usability Lab combines high-value capabilities with user-centered design expertise. It provides a unique environment where teams can efficiently conduct generative research, usability testing, and clinical workflow validation.

We built this lab to be a versatile tool, combining essential usability capabilities with practical flexibility. Our goal is to help Medtech teams successfully navigate the complexities of innovation and commercialization through meaningful user insights and streamlined usability testing processes.

The IDE Simulation Usability Lab features diverse contextual simulation environments, including Surgical Suites, Interventional Radiology, Diagnostic Imaging, and In-patient Hospital Rooms. It also includes an integrated observation suite equipped with advanced audio-visual equipment designed to capture detailed usability data and stream to extended teams. Additionally, dedicated participant check-in and waiting areas ensure efficient participant management, optimizing overall usability study operations.

Recognizing the fluid nature of product development timelines, IDE Group provides flexible reservation and scheduling options, allowing companies to respond to changing project needs while managing their resources effectively.

The Simulation Usability Lab is now available for both current IDE Group clients and new clients requiring access to advanced usability resources.
