At IDE we embrace the differences in all our employees as we understand that diversity makes us strong as an organisation. We see the value of having different experiences, capabilities, insights, and perspectives in one workplace as this helps us to build better futures.
Our recruitment, attraction, and selection methods focus on the candidate’s ability to perform the job, regardless of race, colour, religion, sex, gender, national origin, sexual preference and identity. We pride ourselves on our ability to understand how unconscious bias may affect the recruitment process and our questions on values and technical reasoning ensure that we recruit the right person for the role. We are particularly proud of the number of women that are attracted to working at IDE and developed a career with us.

We have systems and processes in place to ensure that all voices are heard. For the last few years, we have surveyed our employees to find out how they feel about IDE and our culture. As a result, we have developed the Employee Experience Group to provide continual feedback on our practices, culture, and engagement to address issues as they occur. Peer-to-peer buddy systems and mentoring programs are set up with each employee as part of the onboarding process so there is always someone to talk to if there are any issues. We ask our employees how they are going and how they are tracking against goals through regular one-to-one feedback meetings and group surveys. In 2020 these initiatives were particularly important to keep our global team connected.
At IDE we celebrate a wide range of diverse holidays and events throughout the year. In the last year we have celebrated Harmony Day, IWD day and R U OK Day, Company BBQs and team building events ensure each business unit team can get to know other members of the team.
We are an international company with offices in 3 countries: Sydney – Australia, Rotterdam – The Netherlands, Pennsylvania – the USA. We have employees from all over the world including: The Netherlands, USA, France, Indonesia, France, Switzerland, China, Korea, Germany, South Africa, Iran, Thailand, Italy, Scotland, England, Ireland, India. A focus on Put Others First, Take Ownership and Be Curious helps us to ensure inclusion is a key part of our business culture. Our Leadership Development program teaches our leaders about the importance of psychological safety so all employees can be their true self at work. 85% of employees surveyed believe that IDE is dedicated to diversity and inclusion practices, and we will continue to work with our teams to ensure all employees can agree with this statement.
As we celebrated Harmony Day in March 2021, we asked our teams what diversity at work means to you them and these sentiments make us proud as an organisation “Giving everyone the opportunity to follow the path they wish to take, irrespective of background or gender. – Our inclusive culture is our competitive advantage.” “Unity in diversity – an interesting point of view is only a desk away.” “More than multicultural food and coming from a different country. It means initiating progressive discussions, daring to ask questions, and realizing that your ‘normal’ is often not normal.”
